Ajmer is the 5th biggest city in the state of Rajasthan. The city is situated at a distance of 135 km from Jaipur in the west direction, 270 km far from Udaipur, 440 km far from Jaisalmer and about 390 km far from Delhi.
The city of Ajmer is world renowned and known for its various tourist destinations. The city is enclosed by the mountains of Aravalli. Ajmer is a pilgrimage centre due to the location of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and the famous Brahma Temple.
The city is very popular among history and spirit lovers. There are various points of attraction in Ajmer. Pushkar is a world famous tourist destination situated at a distance of 11 km from Ajmer. The area is well known for the historical Brahma Temple which is from the 14th century and for Pushkar Lake. The land of Pushkar is devoted to Lord Brahma. It is mentioned in the Padma Purāņa. According to this holy book is the only place where Lord Brahma can be worshipped. It is believed that according to Hindu mythology, the journey of Char Dham’s cannot be completed without visiting Pushkar. Pushkar is endowed with 52 ghats for spiritual bathing and many temples. It is also famous for hosting an annual Pushkar Fair.
The other major attraction in Ajmer City is The Dargah Sharif. It is devoted to Khwaja Mu’inuddin Chishti. It is located at the base of the Taragarh hill. This spiritual destination contains a great history and known for its holiness.
In addition to this, Taragarh Fort is another famous sightseeing here. The Taragarh Fort has the reputation of being one of the earliest hill forts in the world. The fort was used by Chauhan Rulers and was constructed by King Ajaypal Chauhan. These all make Ajmer a land of divinity and history.
