The capital of India has been worldwide famous for the monuments which represents the history of the country. Red Fort is one of the most beautiful forts in India. The fort was constructed in the seventeenth century. The credit of making this gorgeous fort goes to the most famous emperor Shaha Jahan who had taken the Mughal Emperor at the new heights. It served as the palace for the new capital of Shaha Jahan which was known by the name of Shahjahanabad at that time. The capital was shifted to this historic place from Agra due to the ambitious nature of the emperor in the area of buildings.
The beautiful river of the Yamuna lies along this fort, giving the picturesque view to the fort. At the northeastern side, the walls are bordering an older fort which is known as Salimgarh Fort. This fort was constructed under the supervision of Islam Shah Suri for the purpose of protection. The Red Fort has been categorized in the list of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The fort represents the shape of an octagon. It is one of the best examples of Mughal architecture. Floral decoration, use of marble and double dooms makes the place extremely good looking and attractive. Shahjahani style of artwork has been used in the fort which is a mixture of Indian, European and Persian art.
There are many attractions inside this stunning fort. Diwan-i-Aam is famous as a place for the public where the emperor solved issues among them. Diwan-i-Khas was the private place where emperors held his meetings with state guests. Muthmman-Burj is a famous tower within the fort which is octagonal in shape. Rang Mahal is another attractive place where mistresses and emperor’s wives resided. The place has an exclusive work of paints and mirrors which is amazing.
