Connaught Place: Place for shopping Junkies

Connaught Place is positioned on the Janpath Marg near to New Delhi Railway Station. The adjacent areas are Barakhamba road, Jantar Mantar and Kasturba Gandhi Marg. This place is among one of the most crowd attracting place of Delhi. Connaught place or C.P. is popular for its designer look. It was built in 1931 on basis of Victorian Architecture by Robert Tor Russell who was chief architect of Government of India during that time.

Jama Masjid, the shine of New Delhi is the Islamic style monument that is forty one metres high. As far as the dimensions of the place are concerned, it is approximately 80m in length and 27m in width. It is actually a principal mosque that is located in the Chawri Bazaar in Old Delhi. This was commissioned by Shah Jahan the great Mughal Emperor, who also built the world popular Taj Mahal.

The name Jama Masjid is basically derived from Jummah, the Muslim prayer that means congregational mosque. It is a very huge mosque that can withhold nearly 25000 worshippers at a time. Even the architecture built up of Jama Masjid is quite exquisite and attracts people from India and various parts of the world.

  •     The height is approximate 72.5m.
  •     379 stairs need to be climbed to reach on top.
  •     Qutubu’d – Din Aibak laid its founded in 1199 A.D.
  •     Its main reason for building it was making calls for the prayers.
  •     The stories are well surrounded by balconies that beautifully surround the tower.
  •     Numerous inscriptions are being narrated in Nagari and Arabic characters.
  •     Qutub Minar is built up of sandstone that has intricate carvings.
