This significant festival is a nine day festival celebrated and enjoyed with full enthusiasm and dedication around the whole country. The starting first three days are totally dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. In this duration of time the power and energy of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Every single day is devoted to her different appearance.


Now the next three days are devoted to the worship of Goddess Lakhmi to fill the void of spiritual wealth and materialistic prosperity. By doing this people can acquire all the materialistic peace and prosperity in their life.

Seventh-eighth days of this festival then dedicated to the worship of Goddess Saraswati, who is known as goddess of knowledge and art. To seek religious knowledge, prayers and different yagnas are performed.

Ninth day is the last day of Navratri festival and is also popular as Mahanavami. On this auspicious day of Navtratra, Puja of Kanya is performed in which nine girls are worshipped together. Celebrate Navratri Festival in India

But among these festivals, the Navratri festival is very popular. The meaning of Navratri is nine nights; this means the festival of Navratri is celebrated for nine nights.

The festival of Navratri is mainly celebrated by the Hindu society in an auspicious way. According to Hindu religion, this festival is celebrated to adore the nine forms of Durga Mata. In fact, the festival of Navratri is enjoyed four times during a year. All four times, the festival is known by different names such as Vasanta Navratri, Sharada Navratri, Gupta Navratri and Magha Navratri. Among these Sharada Navratri and Vasanta Navratri are very important and celebrated with enthusiasm. The festival of Vasanta Navratri generally falls in the month of March or April. The ninth day of Vasanta Navratri is celebrated as Ram Navmi. It is believed that Lord Rama put their step on the earth on this day. Among all four navratris, the Sharada Navratri is considered to be the most famous festival. Sharada Navratri is also known as Maha Navratri as it’s most significant among all. The ending of this Navratri is celebrated as Duesshra or Vijaydashmi.

During the festival of Navratri, the nine forms of Durga Mata are worshiped. The nine forms of Goddess Durga are Shailaputri, Chandraghanta, Bharmacharini, Skanda Mata, Kaal Ratri, Siddhidatri, Maha Gauri, Kushmanda and Katyayani. During the festival of Navratri, the big statues of Goddess Durga are put in pandals.

The festival of Navratri is also considered as the greatest festival of Bengal people. During these nine days of celebration, various spiritual dance performances and dramas are played. The basic theme of these performances is related to Hindu legends. So Navratri is a great festival of enthusiasm and energy.
