Lachen: Famous Tourist Attraction Place

The village of Lachen is situated at a distance of 129 kilometres from Gangtok in the northern region of Sikkim. It is placed at an altitude of 9200 ft. This place is a tribal village which is subjected to Dzomsa. The third uppermost mountain range of India i.e. Kangchendzonga is located here. The national park of Kangchendzonga is also situated here.

Lachen is mainly popular for its gorgeous scenic locations, the Buddhist monasteries, and the monasteries of Lachen. A number of Finish missionaries are also a significant feature of this place. Some of the famous attractions of this place are the Kancgchenzonga Range and the Valley of Chopte. The trek routes, springs, lakes, yaks and hot springs are truly magnificent features of the Lachen Village.

The valley of Chopta is popular for mountain drives and mountaineering expeditions. This valley is located near the Tibet Border. Another notable feature of this valley is the Gurudongmar Lake which is placed at an altitude of 17100 ft. The adventure loving people can enjoy the thrill of trekking here. 

This village hosts some interesting events like the Yak race and Mask dance. Yak race is an event in which race is organized between different people sitting on the back of a yak. It is organized on the occasion of evening of the New Year. This race is a competition between the persons who are skilled in riding this dangerous animal. The mask dance is another event organized according the Bhutian culture. The people used to dance wearing the masks of queens, dragons and kings. It is an occasion which is celebrated with great fun and enthusiasm.

The village of Lachen is linked to a strong transportation network. The tourists can use all sorts of transport modes like air, railways, and roadways to reach this village.
