Birla Temple: Modern Temple of Hindus



The Birla Temple is situated in the city of Delhi, which is also the capital of India. It was built by the famous industrialist B.D.Birla with a purpose of offering a welcome to people of all castes and all faiths. The Temple took almost six years to complete the architecture of this temple. This temple of God Narayana and goddess Laxmi was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. It is also renowned as the Laxmi-Narayana Temple.
The Birla Temple is an example of modern architecture among the ancient temples of India. The environment of this temple is quite brassy with mantras going over sound system throughout the day. Despite, of all the noises, it gives a special kind of peace to all its visitors. There is a tree in the garden located outside the temple which is meant for tying auspicious strings.
The architecture of this temple is magnificent and the tallest tower is 125 meters tall. Decorated with beautiful paintings of mythology, the Geeta Bhawan is a hall with splendid beauty. In fact the whole complex including the upper gallery and the walls are loaded with paintings of Rajasthani Artists. These are the major attractions which magnetizes number of domestic and international tourists every year. The visit time to visit this temple is during the morning and evening Aarti but it remains open for visitors from 6am to 10pm.
Being the capital of the country, Delhi is well linked with all transport amenities. Tourists have a number of options in the form of a number of hotels and guest houses in Delhi. In fact, the guest house of the temple itself provides accommodation.
