Corbett National park
is also famous as the ‘Area of roar, the trumpet and sang’. The fauna and flora
variety of this place makes it a perfect destination for wildlife lovers. It is
placed at the bottom of the Himalayas and extended over an area of 520.82 sq.
kilometers. This park got its name after the renowned photographer and hunter
Jim Corbett.
This park is well known for the
tigers, which are one of the major tourist attractions for its visitors. The park is
covered with splendid blanket of greenery which consists of large flora variety
in terms of bamboos, trees, grasses and shrubs. In addition to this, the park
is enriched with fauna assets which consist of 580 varieties of birds, 25
species of reptiles and 50 types of mammals. The famous animals spotted in this
park are sloth bear, tortoise, wild dogs called dhole, pythons etc.
It offers visit during the time
period of 15th November to 15th June. One can also be permitted for an
overnight stay for maximum three days by a permit obtained at Ramnagar. There
are a number of posts for observation and a tower for watching the natural beauty
and wildlife.
Phool Bagh and Pant Nagar are
the two nearest airports located at a distance of 50 kilometers from the park.
Beside this, the park is well connected by road and railway tracks.
