Periyar Park Famous National Park and Tiger Reserve

Periyar National Park is a famous national park and Tiger Reserve in India. It is situated on the Western Ghats in the southern state of India ‘Kerela’. This National Park has one of the most exciting and captivating wildlife sites in the world. It attracts a large number of tourists who enjoy nature. Periyar National Park is also known as Tekkadi wildlife sanctuary. It is a place famous for bird watching and animal lovers.

The Periyar sanctuary is spread in more than 777 sq. km of area. Visitors enjoy the huge number of Elephants presence. It is delightful to watch the nature and animals while travelling by boat on the lake. The place is ideal for those who love watching animals. Other animals present here are the Leopard, Deer, Sambhar, Wild Boar, Wild Dog and many more.


The most attractive site is in the area is the artificial lake that gives pleasure to travel the wildlife and its view on the boat. There are also some of the rarest species of birds found here such as the Racket-tailed Drongo, Darter, Ceylon frog-mouth, Giant Hornbill.

The Periyar National Park is the best place to visit in the month of November to April when the climate is pleasant. As the weather during the summer (April – June) may reach up to 25 degrees and in winter (July – August) up to 20 degrees. There are all facilities available to the tourists here. Guided walk to the jungle as per the convenience can be availed. Early morning walks and trekking is departed. Information center on the spot provides all information that is required. Arrangement to walk inside the park can be available. Regular tours are organized for the visitors. You can also enjoy the sanctuary on Elephant ride viewing the wildlife. The nearby area is filled with the fragrance of spices.
